'ATHENA' preview released, BoA tweets, & Koreaboo meetup
Sep 1 2010, 08:37 PM by Cori

A few weeks ago, we reported that BoA will be making a cameo on the upcoming Korean drama, ATHENA: Goddess of War. SM Entertainment representatives reported that her cameo was filmed during the SMTOWN Live Seoul Concert on August 21st. The filming was done without disrupting the concert itself. ATHENA directors will be using BoA's real performance in the production of the drama.

BoA will be playing a "fictional" singer, who is taken hostage by terrorists and will be saved by secret agent Lee Jeong-woo, played by Jung Woo-sung. A trailer for ATHENA: Goddess of War was also released just the other day, thanks to BoAjjanger 26younha05 for posting the news on our forums!

BoA does not appear until around 2:44. ATHENA: Goddess of War is scheduled to start broadcasting sometime in November.

In other news, BoA just can't stay away from Twitter, despite previous posts about a temporary break from the social site. Her latest tweet was accompanied with the image on the left and says, "Hahaha^^ Thank you Park HeeSun Oppa~~^^ (In) Youngchul Oppa's Hurricane Venus Parody..I'm happy and thankful ^^" Thanks to bluewish for translating!

And a reminder for those attending the SMTOWN Live Concert in Los Angeles this week on Saturday, September 4th. Koreaboo, an upcoming Korean portal site, is holding at the LA Convention Center right next to the Staples Center where the concert is being held. Don't forget to stop by! Many SM artists' fan sites have partnered up with Koreaboo and are selling balloons, lightsticks, t-shirts, wristbands, and much more to prepare you for the concert! Dumbfoundead will also have a booth at the meetup. There will be goodie bags, food, contests, and giveaways scheduled, so don't miss out on this rare event!

Note: SM Artists are rumored to arrive in LA on Thursday, September 2nd at 11AM at LAX.

Hurricane Venus Promotions End; Se7en Talks About BoA
Aug 29 2010, 03:51 PM by Uni

BoA's latest SBS Inkigayo performance for Hurricane Venus marked the end of her promotion for the song. Not to worry, however! BoA held a meet with her fans at Hottracks on her 10th anniversary (August 25th) and revealed to her fans that the repackage album of Hurricane Venus will be out mid-September! According to a fan account, she also gave a hint that a new song included in the repackage begins with the letter 'C' and mentioned a bit of the choreography. So it seems that this is not the last time we'll be seeing BoA on the weekly stages and that she will be back with a new hit!

BoA has won 3 K-Chart Awards on Music Bank and 2 Mutizen Awards on Inkigayo for Hurricane Venus. All performances on Music Bank, Music Core, and Inkigayo have been compiled here for your viewing pleasure.

The fan account also noted that Jonghyun from popular boyband, SHINee, made a small appearance at the fan meet and told BoA fans to listen to the radio show Sukira, which aired after the fanmeet, for he would be singing BoA's ballad song, Stand By. Jonghyun came through and sang a beautiful version of Stand By. The video is provided below.

Se7en's episode on Golden Fishery was aired on August 18th and Kang Ho Dong asked him about his entrance and struggle in America. During the conversation, BoA was brought up, as they were both debuting in America at the same time. Se7en said that because they were both in the same boat and going through similar struggles, they could understand each others' pain. They both did not live very far away from one another, therefore, they would meet each other to eat and drink. When asked whether they spoke in English or Korean, Se7en replied that they mostly spoke in English as they were both studying the language. Se7en said that he thought he would be taught English by the locals and be able to pick it up quickly. However, when he had to speak to staff and do interviews, he couldn't understand at all. The people around him used a lot of slang and it was difficult for him to learn. He also added that BoA had only begun studying the language when she had arrived in America, throwing Kang Ho Dong in a fit of laughter.

Se7en was also a guest on a radio show on August 19th in which he was asked who he thought were the best dancers in Korea. He chose Taeyang (Big Bang) and Jay Park as the best male dancers. BoA and her former backup dancer, who is currently the leader of After School, Park Kahi as the best female dancers.
Last but not least, many fans have been sadden over BoA's decision to temporarily close her twitter, as it was a rare chance to communicate with BoA without a stage. Her last message on the 25th, promised that she will return to twitter in the future. But it looks like she'll have a hard time stopping Twitter as she posted once again after her 2nd win on Inkigayo this past Sunday. BoA fans are looking forward to your twitter return, BoA! Whenever that might be.

BoA wins Music Bank
Aug 27 2010, 09:20 AM by pitabread

BoA pulls out another win on the Music Bank charts, easily overcoming the impressive duo, Homme. Congratulations BoA!

Even though this is BoA's goodbye stage on KBS Music Bank, you can't help but smile at BoA's encore with fellow SMtown group, SHINee. It is saddening though that the encore was cut short! Where are you fancams?!?

Big thanks to UnknownCarrot160, who uploaded BoA's performance and win on their youtube. A download of the performance had already been uploaded by Uriboa.com, you can find it on our forums! Be sure to thank bokachu for finding it and posting it. Enjoy the performances!

History of BoA - Happy 10th Anniversary!
Aug 25 2010, 05:33 PM by Uni

SM Entertainment Discovers Kwon Boa
In 1998, Kwon Soon-hwon auditioned for SM Entertainment and was accompanied by his little sister, Kwon Boa. Even though it was Soon-hwon who auditioned, the SM talent scouts took notice of little 11 year old Boa instead. Although BoA's parents had originally declined the offer from SM Entertainment, Boa's brothers persuaded their parents into allowing their little girl leave school to train for two years in vocals, dance, and Japanese.

BoA Debuts in South Korea
Ten years ago, on this very day (August 25th, 2000), BoA released her first album called ID; Peace B, under her stage name BoA. From that day on, she would be known as BoA, the "Beat Of Angel". Her 1st album sold around 156,000 units and had successfully entered the Top 10 album charts. On March 7, 2001, BoA released her first Mini-Album Don't Start Now, selling around 90,000 units. She then took a hiatus from the Korean music scene to further solidify her Japanese skills to prepare for her debut into the Japanese market.

BoA Enters the Japanese Market
Two years after her Korean debut, SM Entertainment made a deal with Avex Trax, one of the biggest labels in Japan, who at the time, had contracts with Ayumi Hamasaki and Koda Kumi. On May 30, 2001, BoA debuted in Japan with her first single, the Japanese version of her Korean debut song, ID; Peace B. She reached the Top 20 on the Oricon Chart (similar to the Billboards Chart in the U.S.). Her fourth Japanese single, Listen To My Heart was BoA's first single to enter the Oricon Chart's Top 5.

Almost a year after her debut, BoA released her first Japanese album, Listen To My Heart, and became the first Korean artist to reach #1 on the Oricon Chart despite the tension during the 2002 FIFA World Cup, which was hosted by both South Korea and Japan. The album was a breakthrough for BoA's career and sold 230,590 units. Listen To My Heart placed 12th on the 2002 yearly chart and managed to stay on the Oricon Charts for 91 weeks. This album also marked BoA's first time contributing in her albums with writing and composing.

Best of Asia, Bring it on America
On September 2, 2008, SM Entertainment announced that BoA would be making her debut in America through SM's USA branch, SM Entertainment USA. Eight days after the announcement, SM Entertainment held a conference to give further details concerning her debut. Eat You Up became BoA's first U.S. single and was produced by Thomas Troelsen.** BoA released two other singles accompanied with music videos, I Did It For Love and Energetic.

On March 17, 2009, BoA released her first full length, self-titled U.S. album, BoA, which contained 11 tracks, including Eat You Up. On August 31, 2009, a repackage of the album (BoA DELUXE)was released with two new tracks and a radio edited version of Energetic.

PRESENT: Making a Comeback in Korea After 5 Years
BoA's last full length Korean album was released in 2005 with Girls On Top, in which she won Best Female Solo and Bonsang at the MNet KM Music Festival (MKMF) Awards. On March 1st, SM Entertainment announced BoA's 5 years awaited Korean comeback for her 10th anniversary. Her 6th Korean album Hurricane Venus was released on August 5th and quickly topped the Korean charts. She has sold 56,516 units to date and is the 6th highest album sold for 2010, behind her fellow SM peers, Super Junior, SHINee, and Girls' Generation.

CONGRATULATIONS AND HAPPY 10TH ANNIVERSARY, BOA! Throughout these long 10 years, BoA has given us beautiful music and amazed us with her beauty, her personality, her kindness, her talent, and more. For some, she has changed lives through her music, for others, inspired and encouraged them to do more and to not lose hope. While 10 years is a long time for an artist, BoA is still young and we hope she brings us another 10 years of wonderful music in the future.

All of BoA's albums and singles to date are posted here and includes all the ranks and available units sold to date.

BoA has released a total of 65 singles and albums and 93 music videos in her 10-year career as an artist.

**Thomas Troelsen also produced SHINee's Love Like Oxygen and SHINee World, TVXQ's Mirotic, and wrote f(x)'s Nu ABO.

BoA to Release Repackaged Album; SM Town Concert Info
Aug 20 2010, 11:56 PM by Uni

SM Entertainment has been releasing repackages of their artists' albums for the past few years, so it comes to no surprise that BoA's 6th album, Hurricane Venus, will also have a repackage album! BoA was recently a guest on Park So Hyun's 'Love Game' radio program where she stated herself that she will indeed release a repackaged album that will include new tracks! Not only that, but there will be a whole new photo shoot for it! So, if you haven't purchased BoA's album yet or if you were waiting for a repackaged release, make sure you get your copy!

In addition, BoA also said that she will perform LET ME at the upcoming SM Town Concert! The first stop of the World Tour is tomorrow in Seoul, Korea! Fake setlists have been passed around the internet but keep in mind that no one has any real idea what songs are being performed by SM artists. Only the following have been confirmed:
  • BoA - LET ME
  • Joint Stage: BoA & SHINee's Key
  • Duet Performance: Girls' Generation's Jessica & f(x)'s Krystal
  • Duet Performance: Girls' Generation's Seohyun & Super Junior's Kyuhyun

The SM Town World tour will make a stop in Los Angeles, California, on September 4th, and tickets are still available from Ticketmaster and Powerhouse! The ticket prices are seated seats selling for $180, $160, $120, $80, and $40.

Our partner, Koreaboo (an upcoming site designed to bring you the latest K-pop news) is hosting the biggest International K-pop fan meet before the LA SM Town Concert from 2PM - 6PM on September 4th at the LA Convention Center! You are welcome to come in whenever and leave whenever. Koreaboo has already partnered up with several other fansites, as well as BoAjjang, to represent nearly all SM Town artists at the meet up! Whether you're going or not to the concert and are in the area, feel free to stop by! All we ask is that you RSVP on Facebook. It is a free meet up, so you are not required to buy or bring anything, but fan goodies will be available for purchase there, such as T-shirts and lightsticks.

And what will we be selling? Along with giving out free goodie bags (sponsored by both Koreaboo & BoAjjang), we will be selling BoAjjang Wristbands v.2.0 (pictured above)! Back in 2006, BoAjjang sold red wristbands to represent the site and BoA. These new wristbands are yellow and has BoA written in both Korean and Japanese. They will be sold for $2 USD at the meet up and only come in one adult size. Won't be able to come? That's okay because we will be selling the remaining wristbands on the site for anyone who is interested. But more information regarding wristbands will be announced in September.

So, come and join us and become a part of the biggest International K-pop fan meet ever! You don't want to miss it!
